When decay or a crack reaches the nerve, the tooth aches and can form an abscess. Root canal treatment removes the infected nerve, cleans and seals the canals, and lets you keep your own tooth.
A tooth that is taken out leaves a gap that lets neighbouring teeth drift and makes chewing harder. Root canal treatment ends the pain and keeps the tooth working, often for life.

The consultation comes first. Treatment prices are quoted in writing before anything starts, and nothing is added later.

Ask on WhatsAppInside every tooth is soft pulp carrying the nerve and blood supply. When it is infected, the dentist opens the tooth under local anaesthetic, removes the pulp, cleans and shapes each canal down to the tip of the root, and fills it with a sealing material.
The tooth is then rebuilt with a filling. A back tooth that has lost a lot of its structure is usually protected with a crown, so it does not split under chewing.
An infected nerve does not recover. Without treatment the infection spreads into the jaw as an abscess, and the tooth is lost.
No gap in your smile, and no need to replace the tooth later.
The process
The tooth is examined and X-rayed to see the canals and any infection at the root. If you are in pain, the first step can often be done the same day.
One or two visits of about an hour:
The tooth may be tender to bite on for a few days; ordinary painkillers are enough. Avoid hard food on that side until the final filling or crown is in place.
Most treated teeth last for many years. A check-up and X-ray within the year confirm that the root has healed.

Who treats you
Dental treatment is carried out by the clinic’s dental team at Kisasa Plaza. The dentist examines you before anything is done and explains each step as it happens.
Book a dental visitIt is done under local anaesthetic and feels much like a filling. It is the infection that hurts, and the treatment ends that pain.
Sometimes that is the right choice, and the dentist will tell you. Keeping the tooth avoids a gap, protects your bite and is usually better in the long run.
Usually not. Cleaning the canals removes the source of the infection. Antibiotics are added only when there is swelling or fever.
Call or message the clinic the same day. Swelling that spreads to the eye or neck, or makes it hard to swallow or breathe, needs emergency care: call 112.
